A Method to Co-Design Antenna Element and Array Patterns

In this paper, we develop a novel method to design the elements of an antenna array and their feed weights simultaneously. The is based on formulating problem as non-linear multi-objective optimization model that estimates realized gain at certain angles function element-level port signals impedances, array-level for elements. This enables utilization genetic algorithms find optimal signals, given steering range requirements. As example, consisting multi-port simulated modeled with its impedance radiation matrices. These matrices are used in calculation model. then applied part wide scanning possible. designed such system can be reduced single physically realizable matching components network. proposed also compared reference same size. Both simulations measurements verify provide substantial improvements reference.
